DANIEL JACOBS
Name: Daniel Jacobs

Record: 20-0 (17) KOs

Division: Middleweight 160 lbs

Daniel Jacobs is one to look out for. He turned Professional in Dec 2007. Since then he has gone 20 and 0 with 17 Stoppages. Daniel was picked up as a young prospect by Goldenboy Promotions. He has moved right along in the ranking and even picked up a win against veteran Ishe Smith. He latest win came on May 15, 2010 against Juan Astorga in which Daniel stopped him in the 2nd Round. This kid seems to have a bright future in the middleweight division. This year I believe Oscar\'s company will step up the competition and see how their bright young star will do against the top 5 middleweights. Keep a lookout for this kid.

MARCOS MADIANA TO FACE DEMARCUS CORLEY
A press conference to announce Marcos Maidana's next fight took place yesterday afternoon in Argentina, according to Fightnews.

Maidana, will take on DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley on August 28 in Buenos Aires.

"...Everybody keeps asking me about Bradley," said Maidana. "I watched his fight the other day. Because I don't want anybody to call me a chicken, like Gary Shaw did. Indeed, I heard that Bradley himself called me out after beating Abregu. I am no chicken. If they want to fight me I am here. With all due respect to Corley, I want to knock out Corley, then Bradley."

SAUERLAND: KLITSCHKO GAVE POVETKIN A SLAVE CONTRACT
By Ruslan Chikov

It was surpising to some, and not surprising to others, but the fight between WBO/IBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and mandatory Alexander Povetkin fell apart this week. Klitschko and his team have been fuming because Povetkin no-showed Monday's press conference in Frankfurt, Germany.

Povetkin's team gave prior notice of his no-show, telling Team Klitschko that a doctor advised Povetkin to avoid flying due a bad sinus infection. Klitschko shot back and pointed out how Povetkin was claiming to be ill, but had the energy to appear on American television shows, like ESPN's Friday Night Fights.

Klitschko's management approached the IBF and advised them that Povetkin no-showed the press conference and he also never signed the bout agreement despite repeated requests. Because of the situation with the no-show and the contract not being signed, the IBF allowed Klitschko to move forward on September 11 with the number two ranked challenger, Samuel Peter. Klitschko won a tough twelve round decision against Peter in 2005, but not before Peter knocked him down three times.

MARGARITO VS PACQUIAO NEXT?
The conditioning expert who contributed his share alongside for time “Trainer of the Year” award winner Freddie Roach in honing pound-for-pound king and “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao into a devastating  fighter says he believes a fight against Antonio Margarito would be better for Pacquiao at this stage rather than a rematch with WBO light middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.

Ariza said Pacquiao’s 12th round stoppage of Cotto last December at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada “is still too fresh” even as he believes that even if Cotto is trained by the highly respected Emmanuel Steward, Pacquiao will beat Cotto handily.

Ariza noted that many people are not too excited about a Cotto rematch at this point, which is also the view shared by Pacquiao’s adviser Michal Koncz, who told us he thinks Cotto who won the WBA 154 pound title from champion Yuri Foreman, should have an impressive win in his next fight before they consider a Cotto rematch for Pacquiao.

A PHIL BERGER VIEW FROM ABOVE: BOXING FANS IN THE YANKEE STANDS
A Phil Berger View From Above: Boxing Fans in the Yankee Stands
By Robert Brizel, Official Scorecard Staff Writer

Phil Berger wrote boxing articles for the New York Times for seven years, and many sports books including boxing, both fiction and nonfiction. The original Yankee Stadium 'event of the century' between Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton took place in 1976, and the old Yankee stadium was packed. Phil would have loved to attend the Yuri Foreman versus Miguel Cotto fight card in the new Yankee stadium on Saturday, June 5, 2010. Because the event was an attempt at recreating history, Phil would have tried to contrast the original event back in the Ali era-of which Phil knew so much about, to the Cotto era-which Phil never new. Phil wrote books on Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier, and Larry Holmes,

DIAZ VS MARQUEZ 2 PRESSER
JUAN DIAZ, Former Three-Time Lightweight World Champion

"It is difficult to balance a career and fatherhood at times. Thankfully I have my family who has been really supportive and helpful with everything.

"The best advice is to try and spend as much time with your children as possible. Sometimes people get caught up in accomplishing their own goals, but we need to remember to make our children our number one priority. You should never be too busy to play with your kids.

"I try to be with my son 99 percent of the time. I like to do small things with him. For example, we brush our teeth together at night. I want to lead him in the right direction as a young kid so that he will grow up and learn to have respect for other people.

"I'm trying to do the best that I can to accomplish my dreams and goals so that when my son gets older I can tell him, 'This is what I set out to do when I was your age' and for him to see what I was able to do in my life so he will want to follow in my footsteps."
