Former bantamweight title challenger Nestor Rocha (22-1, 8 KOs) took out journeyman Benji Garcia (14-16-3, 1 KO) with a body shot in round two. Time was :45. Rocha was returning from a one-year layoff after unsuccessfully challenging then-WBC champ Hozumi Hasegawa in Japan last July.

In an all-out war, Junior welterweight Oscar Andrade won a hard-fought four round unanimous decision over Ramon Valadez. Andrade (2-0, 1 KO) was hurt by a hard right hand by Valadez in the third round. Although he did not go down, the southpaw Andrade controlled the action by repeatedly landing left hands to the head and body of Valadez (1-1). All three judges scored the bout 39-37 in favor of Andrade. |
