As much as Mayweather has ducked fighters in the Welterweight division, fighters have ducked him in the Jr. Welterweight division. He was much like Edwin Valero is today, a high risk – low reward challenge. Now that he’s a high risk – extremely high reward challenge, people have been calling him out. Floyd has simply tried to make the best business decisions. If I was Floyd Mayweather, it was a no brainer to fight an over the hill dela hoya and an undersized Ricky Hatton for millions of dollars!

In the future, Mayweather was much more maligned and his name was laughed at whenever mentioned. Because in the year 2010, he made a very very silly and unacceptable excuse not to fight Pacquiao. The fight did not materialize.

Are you aware that when BOTH Floyd Mayweather & Miguel Cotto were on Top Rank & BOTH fighting @140lbs & BOTH held titles (Cotto had the WBO light welterweight title & Mayweather has the WBClight welterweight title) that Mayweather wanted to fight Cotto to unify the title? But guess what?!?!?!? Bob Arum DID NOT want to put Cotto in with Mayweather.
Also Ricky Hatton was the IBF light welterweight champion @140lbs and Ricky Hattons father specifically said that “Ricky Hatton is NOT READY to fight Mayweather”.
This is all fact!!

Guys, let’s keep it respectable here, no need for name calling and derogatory comments. I’m sure us pinoys don’t want to be labelled as crazy fanatics who know nothing about Boxing. Keep it intelligent and respectable! Quentin Reed makes some good points and I’ve learned some stuff about Mayweather that I haven’t known before.
As much as Mayweather has ducked fighters in the Welterweight division, fighters have ducked him in the Jr. Welterweight division. He was much like Edwin Valero is today, a high risk – low reward challenge. Now that he’s a high risk – extremely high reward challenge, people have been calling him out. Floyd has simply tried to make the best business decisions. If I was Floyd Mayweather, it was a no brainer to fight an over the hill dela hoya and an undersized Ricky Hatton for millions of dollars!
I respect Floyd now more and I know where Quentin Reed is coming from, just simply trying to protect his favorite fighter, as do I with Manny Pacquiao.
