WV2 TERMINATED SONSONA/Puerto Rico Championship Factory

First of all let me say I’m from Bayamon, Puerto Rico and growing up I met Vazquez Sr. I didn’t live there but played ball in Residencial Celso Barbosa where I still have friends and I’ll will be interviewing WV2 around April. So yes I might be little bias but not blind.
So, let’s start with the Arroyo brothers McWilliams and McJoe the Puerto Ricans with the Irish names. These two young prospects have looked great and they will be built up to become good contenders and possible champions. So let’s get to the main event, Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Lets start by saying yes he talked his garbage but he backed it up 100%. I laughed when most people were picking Sonsona to beat Wilfredo, the reason why Wilfredo might not have had a great amateur career but believe me Wilfredo being raised in Celso Barbosa there’s a great boxing gym right there and this guy has great experience in the amateur realm, he didn’t just pick up his boxing gloves yesterday.
Moving on to the fight, the first round was basically an even round the edge going to Sonsona, the 2nd round Wilfredo measured and felt his power and targeted Sonsona for termination. Sonsona looked like child fighting with a man, Wilfredo bounced Sonsona off the ropes like a rag doll, 3rd round it was a matter of time, even my friend from
(Boxingscene.com) Ryan was hoping that Sonsona would pull it off, but he didn’t, the 4th round was Wilfredo with calm power shots to the ribs and chin which ended the fight. Sonsona had to quit to a bigger, stronger and more skillful WV2. The Filipino training camps have to stop thinking that they have the next Manny Pac. And start building up there fighters to big fights. There’s only one Manny Pac and he’s trained by Roach. I was hoping there will be rivalry building up between Puerto Rican Fighters and Filipino ones, but there isn’t. Puerto Rican fighters are trained to almost perfection they go through an amateur coach then the pro trainer. It’s a factory folks!!!
Junma Lopez will make short work of Concepcion. The Filipino fighters just look to raw to be fighting at this level, let’s not forget before Roach Manny was getting beat. Well it looks within two years Puerto Rico will have at least 4 to 6 champs. I’m not against Filipino Fighters or the possible Rivalry with Puerto Rico, but to tell you the truth Filipino Fighters are just not ready yet!

if you’re not against a filipino/puertoricano rivalry, then why say these filipino fighters are not ready yet? i think it should be done and promoted because it’s good for the sport. as far as WV2 victory, i’m not totally sold in that fight. yes he won but this sonsona was two wieght division lower. and did you see the body frame of WV2 during fight night? that mother puertoricano was buff! i think WV2 needs to prove himself more. he does have a great record, but you said it yourself: he has a bad amateur career. i want him to go up against legit 122 fighters and there a lot of them out there. on a personal bias, mexican fighters are still the best!

Yes. Sonsona is too raw to fight at 122lbs.
It just that some of my countrymen, The handlers are doing it for instant money.. It was Sonsona’s first fight at 122 then doing it at a championship fight.Oh… he is not PACMAN . Maybe the camp of Vasquez is eager to offer him because they know that it is a sure win. Time will come Sonsona will be polished..watch it out. that is if he decides to continue wearing boxing gloves.

Concepcion might not be as skilled as Juanma, but he’s very strong. If he can land a punch, he should be able to rock Juanma.

Before Manny Pacquiao climbed to stardom, Filipino fighters were ranked too much long as a CONTENDER before given the chance to fight for a world title. Gerry Penalosa and Rodel Mayol were teen ager contenders for a long time and have to fight for championship in their 20+ age. Now that Manny is very popular, very young and untested contenders (Sonsona, Ciso Morales, etc) were being fed very early into the Lion’s den. I hope young fighter’s trainers and managers have to train well their fighters before the final fight. DISCIPLINE. Let’s not count the chicks not until the eggs will be hatched.

while i’m a filipino too i kind of agree. filipino boxers are not ready yet for world class fights..look at boom boom bautista,aj banal,ciso morales and the likes.the reason for this is,the filipino promoters are too hyped with pac.as a saying in filipinos, “hinihinog sa pilit” and ended up being fed to the lion.they kept saying this guy,that guy is the next pacquiao.if only a fighter,like sonsona for example,be as disciplined as pac then he could but in the right time.not now,he is not matured enough,hasn’t even reach 20 pro fight.
as for juanma-concepcion,while lopez is the favored one,i don’t think he’ll make short work of bernabe.concepcion is more comfortable in weight,can punch too and accurate…now,it wouldn’t matter this time coz if either of them faces yuriorkis gamboa they’ll be beaten so badly.yes, even juanma,with all the hype doesn’t stand a chance against gamboa,neither is concepcion

Your Great Cotto was trained perfectly. He was in Great shape when he fought The Pacman. It is clear because he ran from 6th until the ref realized its not boxing anymore (but dancing)… dont boast the win of your moving like-robot Vasquez coz he won against an already-loser-before- he-climbed–the -ring fighter. Sonsona looks like he was dying when he climbed the ring. During the fight, he picked his punches as if he does not want to hurt a baby.. Maybe he forgot his opponent is bigger than him. That always is the case of Fil v Puerto Rico. Ricans always fight when they think its easy… Remenber the very small Penalosa and the very big Juanma?

Yes I can agree with you on some points. Indeed Sonsona is still very raw and need to build up his armory before facing elite fighters. I think his promoter and trainer are not looking after their fighter’s welfare properly. Sonsona should be magaged by a better manager & promoter, also change his trainer.
Re Abe Concepcion, youre right, he will be devoured by Juanma. Concepcion is hard headed and do not follow trainers instructions properly. He lacks discipline in training.
