MAYWEATHERS BRILLIANCE SHINES, PACQUIAO NEXT?
By Carlos Cinco

All of a sudden, you can’t say Floyd Maywather just runs inside the ring.  All of a sudden, you can’t say Floyd Mayweather never fought elite competition.  What happened last night was a beauty to behold.  It was the ‘sweet science’ depicted in its purest and finest form.  It was the definition of ‘boxing’ – to hit and not get hit.  Floyd Mayweather is a very easy guy to hate.  He goes around and runs his mouth to the point where it’s just infuriating to continue to listen to him and his unending trash talking.  A lot of people hate Floyd Mayweather.  After last night, you can still hate him all you want, but if you don’t respect him and his unparalleled mastery of the sport then you are not a true ‘boxing fan’.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER PROVES WHY HE IS THE BEST
Unbeaten boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs) scored a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-6, 39 KOs) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Not many connects in round one, but Mosley rocked Mayweather with some hard shots in round two. It was all Mayweather after that. Floyd boxed well in round three and four as Mosley was unable to catch him. A lot of feinting but not much fighting in round five – advantage Floyd. Mosley was unable to deal with Floyd’s speed as Floyd picked him apart. Knowing he’s down on the cards, Mosley tried to force exchanges, but Floyd’s counters did more damage. Floyd was able to hit Mosley at will down the stretch as Shane was just unable to figure him out. Scores were 119-109, 119-109, 118-110. After the fight, Mayweather said he would not fight Pacquiao unless Pacquiao agrees to blood testing. It is believed Mosley’s WBA belt will be vacated as Floyd was not fighting for the WBA title. This leaves little known Vyacheslav Senchenko as WBA champion.

ROBERT GUERRERO POST WIN, WHOSE NEXT?

After a short feeling out session, Guerrero (25-1-1, 18 KOs) would find success with the jab and use it as a range finder for the straight left hand. In the second round a right jab, straight left combination dropped Arrieta (35-16-4) and another two punch combination sent the Argentinean to the seat of his pants again in the third. From that point on, Arrieta became a sitting duck for the Gilroy, Calif. fighter to score often with nearly anything put behind the jab. Arrieta offered nothing that would prevent Guerrero from coming forward as the former Jr. Lightweight champ continued to flash the jab in his face.

A dynamite straight left hand collapsed Arrieta in the 8th round and although he would make it up on shaky legs, Guerrero would finish the job as referee Jay Nady called a halt to the bout at :29 in the 8th round. “I feel great, I wanted to get some rounds in,” Guerrero said. “I worked my jab and got him out of there.”

MOSLEY VS MAYWEATHER QUOTES
Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr. and “Sugar” Shane Mosley face off at the final presser, held today at the MGM’s Hollywood Theater in Las Vegas. There was very little trash talking at today’s presser, and, both, Mayweather and Mosley showed mutual respect for each other in regard to Saturday’s mega-fight showdown.

Quick quotes by Andreas Hale

Mayweather: ”Getting ready for a fight of this magnitude, you must be ready mentally and physically. I know what it takes. It takes hard work, dedication, prayers and belief in a good team. . . . May 1st I’m going to be Floyd Mayweather and do what I do best. That is be smart, be sharp and fight hard.”
. . . .
Floyd Mayweather Sr.: ”My son is quicker, more clever and (Shane) doesn’t have any defense. Bad news!”
. . . .
Roger Mayweather: ”I think my nephew is the greatest thing in life just like Jack Mosley thinks is son is the greatest thing in life. On May 1st, we’re going to have to put that opinion to rest. When that time comes and all is said and done, no matter what happens, (to Jack Mosley) you still can invite me over to the house so I can have dinner with you.”
. . . .
Shane Mosley: ”I’m just happy to be able to show my talents and skills. I’m going to put everything on the line . . . . This will have to be one of the greatest fights of this decade and maybe even history.
. . . .
Naazim Richardson: ”You have good fighters, you have champions, you have elite fighters and then you have guys who are special. In this fight you get the rare occasion where two special fighters will face each other.”

JOHN RUIZ RETIRES
After a professional career spanning 18 years, highlighted by becoming the first and only Heavyweight World Champion of Latino heritage, two-time world champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz today announced his retirement from the ring. Ruiz (44-9-1, 30 KOs) defeated three world champions – Evander Holyfield, Hasim Rahman and Tony Tucker – as well as top contenders such as Andrew Golota, Fres Oquendo, Jameel McCline and Kirk Johnson. Six of John’s nine career losses were to world champions.
“I’ve had a great career but it’s time for me to turn the page and start a new chapter of my life,” Ruiz said. “It’s sad that my final fight didn’t work out the way I wanted, but, hey, that’s boxing. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished with two world titles, 12 championship fights, and being the first Latino Heavyweight Champion of the World. MAYWEATHER MAKING 60 MILLION AND SHANE ONLY 2.7 MILLION?
Money Mayweather is holding no punches at calling out Sugar Shane Mosley as they prepare to do battle this weekend.

Putting Shane's personal financial business out there is the latest attack from Floyd who reveled,

"Shane!!!! Oscar De La Hoya already told me that you borrowed $2 million so you got a cash advance from Golden Boy [promotions]."

Adding further insult, Floyd breaks  down how he's cashing out at $60 million for the fight while Shane is taking home only $2.7 million.

KESSLER DETHRONES FROCH, SUPER SIX IS TIGHTENING UP
In a big “Super Six World Boxing Classic” round two match, Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KOs) dethroned previously unbeaten WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KOs) by unanimous decision on Saturday night at the MCH Arena in Herning, Denmark. The fight was very close and fought at a very high level. Both fighters had their moments landing big shots and neither was able to get the upper hand for long. Some huge exchanges in the last round and going to the scorecards the result seemed still in doubt. Scores were 117-111, 115-113, 116-112, all for Kessler. The win begins Kessler’s third reign as world champion in the super middleweight division. It is the second time he has held the WBC belt. He has also held the WBA belt on two occasions.

ADAMEK AND ANGULO BOTH WIN
In an important clash of heavyweight contenders, Tomasz Adamek (41-1, 27 KOs) showed he belongs in the heavyweight division with a twelve round majority decision over Chris Arreola (28-2, 25 KOs) on Saturday night at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California. Arreola, who outweighed Adamek by 33 pounds, had difficulty connecting on the former light heavyweight and cruiserweight world champion, who was far busier early on. Both fighters landed big shots in the fourth round. Arreola’s size and strength became more of a factor as the fight progressed but Adamek changed his tactics and fought at his pace from rounds seven to nine. Arreola picked up the pressure in the tenth round. Both fighters landed good shots in the eleventh round. Adamek spent the final round pot-shotting a frustrated Arreola from the outside. Scores were 114-114, 115-113, 117-111.

In an intriguing clash of big-punching junior middleweights, WBO interim champion Alfredo Angulo (18-1, 15 KOs) KO’d Joel Julio (35-4, 31 KOs) in the eleventh round. Boxing from the outside, Julio outworked Angulo for the first third of the fight. Angulo’s pressure, however, began to break Julio down and he finished him with a big right hand in the eleventh. Time was 1:39.

EDWIN VALERO KILLS WIFE AND LATER KILLS HIMSELF
Wilmer Flores Trosel, CICPC director, has announced that lightweight world champion Edwin Valero admitted guilt in the murder of his wife early this morning in Valencia, Venezuela. According to police, Mrs. Valero had three stab wounds to her neck. The wounds were not deep and police didn’t find a knife or razor in the room. Investigators hypothesize that the crime occurred during a fight at about 4AM. The couple had checked into the hotel at around 11:30PM last night. At about 5:30AM, Valero went down to the hotel lobby and confessed the killing to hotel staffers, who called police. Valero was taken into custody without incident. Prosecutors have moved ahead with murder charges against Valero.

Police in Caracas, Venezuela have reported that former boxing champion Edwin Valero has killed himself in his jail cell, just hours after he was arrested for his wife’s murder. Early Monday morning, Valero used his own clothes to hang himself in his cell.

He was to be arraigned at 9AM this morning on homicide charges in the death of his wife Yennifer Carolina less than 24 hours previously at the Intercontinental Hotel in Valencia. BENARD, ROY, AND EVANDER PLEASE JUST LET US REMEMBER YOUR LEGACY
By Shawn   info@officialscorecard.com

What do Roy Jones, Benard Hopkins, and Evander Holyfield all have in common? It should be Retirement. Come on guys, we loved all the great fights that you gave us but enough is enough. You've had your fair share to shine and all of you shined brightly. Now is the time to let your ego's and pride be put to the side. After this weekend's uneventful boxing match between two guys that are well past their primes, they gave us more than enough reason's why they should retire.

Benard and Roy looked nothing like what we called future Hall of Famers, that is according to this particular night. While we love both fighters, somebody needs to tell them that they don't have it anymore. My father always told me that when you get older, it is always in your head but your body just won't perform the way your mind wants you to. I believe it after saturday night. I'm sure in their minds they knew what they wanted to do, but their body just wouldn't put out like they wanted it to.

ANDRE BERTO VS MANNY PACQUIAO IN THE FALL?
By Shawn  info@officialscorecard.com

Let's set the stage, if Andre Berto get's by Carlos Quintana this Saturday, then does that setup a possible showdown between Berto vs Pacquiao? We know that Manny Pacquiao has his hands full in the political arena right now but that will not stop him from fighting this fall. As we see it there are really two options for Pacquiao. That is either face Andre Berto or face the winner of Mayweather vs Mosley.

Notice how we didn't acknowledge Quintana in the equation because we feel that their is no chance of him winning this Saturday. Manny Pacquiao vs Andre Berto would be a great fight. Most people would not give Berto a chance but he has just as good as a chance as Shane or Mayweather would have. Pacquiao has done good, but to be great he needs to fight one of the three we just mentioned. Mostly Mayweather that is, but if not him than Berto. We will save Sugar Shane for last.
