Luis Ramos, of Frank Espinoza’s “Espinoza Boxing Club”, is already looked upon as one of the hottest young prospects in boxing. After a decorated amateur career spanning more than 100 fights and 6 national championships, Ramos turned to the professional ranks in late 2007. Having already built an impressive record of 16 wins, 8 coming by way of knockout, Ramos’ following in the Southern California area is impressive, to say the least. Ramos is never in a dull fight, and fights with a crowd-pleasing style. Keep an eye on Ramos in the near future, as his next scheduled bout is set to be televised on Telefutura on September 17, 2010, from Los Angeles, California.

Paulie Malignaggi is reporting today that his promoter Lou DiBella is in talks with Goldenboy Promotions to lock in a fight with Amir Khan. GBP loves the ideal. Now the ball is in Amir Khans court. Let's see if he is willing to sign the dotted line to face the MagicMan Paulie Malignaggi.
Malignaggi got his rematch with Juan Diaz a few months ago and proved that the first fight was a fluke in part by bad judging in Diaz hometown. Now with the win under his belt Paulie is looking to face the top fighters at 140lbs. continue...
FREDDIE ROACH: SHANE YOU'RE JUST TOO GOOD FOR PACQUIAO These are Freddie Roach's words that he reported to the La Times by way of Bill Dwyre. "Shane came to the gym twice to ask me to let him fight Manny," Roach says. "I told him no both times, and both times for the same two reasons: First, there isn't enough money there, and second, you're too good a fighter." I believe there is some truth and a lie mixed up in there.
Wow, so which one holds more truth to it? Not enough money? No, No, No, the fans would have paid good money to see that fight after Shane blew Margarito out and has the belt at welterweight and he was willing to come in at 145lbs.
Or is it really reason number 2. Shane your just too good for my very own fighter Manny Pacquiao? If I was a betting man I would say number 2. So many people accuse Floyd Mayweather of hand picking his opponents that nobody stops to think that Freddie Roach and Bob Arum hand picks Manny Pacquiao opponents as well. Their arguement is that Floyd handles his negotiations. You must remember that Pacquiao also has to agree with who he fights. The fighters say it all the time, "Whoever my management puts in front of me then that's who I will fight". This is far from the truth. Fighters themselves have to make that decision. Your management team throws a name at you and you have to decide whether to fight that person or not.
Interesting enough, that we wonder if Sugar Shane Mosely loses to Floyd Mayweather would Pacquiao be willing to fight him then if the negotiations fall through between Money Mayweather and Pacquiao again? What would the media and fans think if they tell Pacquiao that Shane took the test, why not you now?
Hmmm, that is something to think about. Let's see how this unfolds. continue...

In a highly charged rematch, Beibut Shumenov (9-1, 6 KOs) won a controversial twelve round split decision to dethrone WBA light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo (19-3, 5 KOs) on Friday night at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Campillo was cool and accurate as he landed cleaner punches against the wild-swinging challenger. Campillo was cut over the left eye by a punch in round five, while Shumenov was busted up by a accumulation of punches. Campillo seemed on the verge of stopping Shumenov in the ninth round, but his lack of punching power betrayed him as the aggressive Shumenov out-muscled him down the stretch. Scores were 117-111, 115-113 for Shumanov, 117-111 for Campillo. continue...

MOSELY VS MAYWEATHER MAY 1ST According to a source with knowledge of the negotiations, a verbal agreement has been reached for WBA welterweight champion Sugar Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KOs) to defend his belt against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (40-0, 25 KOs) on May 1 in Las Vegas. The Mosley Camp has apparently agreed to Mayweather’s stipulation that both fighters be subjected to additional random blood and urine testing not normally required by the Nevada Athletic Commission (the same issue that torpedoed Mayweather-Pacquiao). The fight is expected to be signed and officially announced in the coming days. continue...
It appears that Miguel Cotto has heard the screams from the fans, writers, trainers that he needed a new trainer lots of names have been thrown around: James "Buddy" McGirt, Ronnie shield, Felix Trinidad Sr.
Buddy McGrit What does Buddy bring to the table Buddy is trainer that can bring a boxer from being a has been to a champ by changing there style to a semi boxer defensive fighter, Negatives: Buddy did a horrible Job with Paulie and with Cotto He’s already pretty good boxer and what Cotto NEEDS is a trainer he respect and obeys.
Ronnie Shield is all around good trainer but lacks little knowledge of the Puerto Rican Style of fighting and in my opinion Cotto will not respect him.
Felix Trinidad SR: A trainer high Motivator commands respect slaps you into training makes fighters sleep at the gym, high knowledge Puerto Rican Culture and boxing style.
Felix Trinidad Sr. is the perfect trainer for Cotto. continue...

JUANMA LOPEZ AND YURIORKIS GAMBOA BOTH WIN, BOTH LOOKING TO FIGHT EACH OTHER NEXT WBO jr. featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez (27-0, 24 KOs) dethroned WBO featherweight champion Steven Luevano (37-1-1, 15 KOs) with combinations going into the seventh round. Lopez got the TKO on Saturday night at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City. TAMARA SHOCKS THE PHILIPINES, WINS BY TKO 12TH, VILORIA RUSHED TO HOSPITAL PASAY CITY, PHILIPPINES – After 12 rough rounds of back and forth exchanges between Brian Viloria and Carlos Tamara, in the end, a new Light Flyweight champion was crowned. Carlos “El Olimpico” Tamara applied the pressure constantly and broke down the now ex-champion. Viloria had control of the early and middle rounds and though Tamara out-punched him most of the time, Viloria’s shots did much more damage as he clearly had the edge in power. In the eighth, Viloria even wobbled Tamara and tried to finish him off, the latter did his best to survive the round. However, things were different to start off the ninth as Tamara gained his second wind and took the fight to the champion. A visibly tired Viloria, picked his spots but could no longer defend against Tamara’s onslaught. Tamara threw everything but the kitchen sink. continue...

ANDRE BERTO VS SUGAR SHANE MOSELY FIGHT IS OFF, MAYWEATHER MAY BE NEXT Andre Berto’s Statement: Since the 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti on Tuesday evening, I have been focusing on my family and the Haitian people who are facing an inconceivable battle for survival while still trying to continue to prepare for an opportunity I have dreamt of since childhood. I lost several family members to the earthquake and after two days without word, was relieved to learn that my sister, Naomi and her daughter, Jessica survived, but were left homeless. I have seen the pain in my parents’ eyes as they attempt to understand what has happened to our homeland and recognize a place they once called home.
As a result of this disaster, I am mentally and physically exhausted and therefore I have no choice but to withdraw from my bout on January 30.
Throughout the past six days, I have received an incredible outpouring of support, and I sincerely appreciate everyone’s prayers for the people of Haiti. I hope that everyone will continue to keep the Haitian people in their thoughts and prayers as we work to rebuild this proud nation. The rebuilding of Haiti is not something that will happen overnight, but I am fully dedicated to helping the Haitian people recover from this catastrophic event. continue...
