Luis Ramos, of Frank Espinoza’s “Espinoza Boxing Club”, is already looked upon as one of the hottest young prospects in boxing. Having already built an impressive record of 16 wins, 8 coming by way of knockout, Ramos’ following in the Southern California area is impressive, to say the least. Ramos is never in a dull fight, and fights with a crowd-pleasing style. Keep an eye on Ramos in the near future, as his next scheduled bout is set to be televised on Telefutura on September 17, 2010, from Los Angeles, California.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER VS KERMIT CINTRON IS THE ONLY FIGHT THAT MAKES SENSE Manny Pacquiao has a very tough opponent in front of him in Joshua Clottey, but who does Floyd Mayweather have that would be considered a tough opponent? Former Welterweight Champion Kermit Cintron. Kermit is at his strongest at welterweight and from his last four fights at 154lbs he only stopped one fighter. Given that Kermit's only 2 losses is at the hands of Margarito (some still believe he loss because of loaded handwraps) he seems to be a strong contender that will give Mayweather a good fight.
Kermit Cintron himself has made remarks about Manny Pacquiao being on something. He doesn't like it when he feels that the competition could possible be cheating to win, and that is the way Floyd Mayweather feels. Floyd says he wants the best and why not Cintron. If those 2 losses was truely due to illegal and loaded handwraps then Cintron would still be undefeated and would be a good matchup for Floyd. continue...

It’s important that I give my body and mind some much needed rest, because I have been boxing for nearly 20 years,” said Taylor. “I plan on keeping myself in shape and making a return to the sport sometime in the future. THE REAL REASON PRINCE NASEEM HAMED RETIRED The real reason why I retired was because my hands were so brittle and they hurt so much at the end of my career. I had to take cortozone shots right before every fight just to deal with the pain. My hands could not take the power that my body was generating. At the end of my fights they had to take scissors and cut my gloves off because they would swell up like a balloon. I do miss boxing though and I think boxing misses me. Maybe I did retire to early but it was for the best. continue...

PACQUIAO IS TAKING EVERYONE TO COURT On Wednesday Manny Pacquiao filed a lawsuit in Nevada federal court against Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Floyd Mayweather, Sr., Roger Mayweather, Mayweather Promotions, LLC, and Golden Boy Promotions executives Oscar de la Hoya, and Richard Schaefer for allegedly making false and defamatory statements accusing Pacquiao of taking performance-enhancing drugs. The lawsuit claims the Mayweathers, de la Hoya, and Schaefer knew that Pacquiao has never taken performance-enhancing drugs, knew their statements were false, but made them anyway out of “ill-will, spite, malice, revenge, and envy.” Pacquiao has retained Daniel Petrocelli of the Los Angeles-based law firm of O’Melveny & Myers LLP. About the filing of the complaint, Petrocelli stated: “Manny Pacquiao’s achievements come from God-given talent and an indefatigable work ethic — not steroids. He cannot and will not allow others to deliberately misrepresent his years of hard work and tarnish his reputation.” The lawsuit was filed in federal district court in Las Vegas, Nevada, and seeks compensatory and punitive damages for defendants’ wrongful conduct continue...
This isn't some issue that just came about. It has been a part of the contract negotiations for weeks. According to a source familiar with the talks, Pacquiao's representatives asked what penalties Pacquiao would face if he tested dirty, and also if a dirty test result could be kept secret so that the integrity of the fight wouldn't be ruined in the public eye.
Those are disturbing requests. It could just be due diligence on the part of the attorneys negotiating the contract or it could be that Pacquiao has something to hide. The only way to clear up the matter is to agree to the testing. Mayweather has agreed to undergo the same procedures, putting more pressure on Pacquiao. continue...

HBO'S 24/7 COULD BE THE KEY FOR THE MAYWEATHER VS PACQUIAO FIGHT HAPPENING When HBO televised "Pacquiao/Hatton 24/7", it aired footage of Pacquiao taking a routine blood test as part of his pre-fight medical exam. The blood test was conducted approximately 14 days before the fight; it punches holes in Pacquiao's argument that giving blood inside 30 days of a fight negatively impacts his performance. Also Monday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which would oversee the fight because it is due to take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, set in motion plans to randomly test the urine of both fighters regardless of whether the fight takes place. continue...
LOS ANGELES (December 28, 2009) . . . After a Christmas weekend filled with comments and reports related to the potential mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions are issuing the following statement in order to set the record straight.
Let the record be clear: Manny Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum are threatening to walk away from the largest fight in history.
The fact is that random blood and urine testing was one of the many deal points and was listed along with the others, such as the financial split, the weight, financial penalty for being overweight, the appointment of the foreign sales agent, the production of the marketing assets, the gloves and many more. Team Mayweather made major concessions in many of these areas and we were optimistic that Team Pacquiao would do the same as it related to the request for random blood and urine testing, which Floyd Mayweather agreed to immediately. continue...
"I am still willing to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. I never said the fight was off or I do not want to fight him. I will fight anyone at anytime and my record and past fights prove that. I have never and will never dodge anyone. These are my specifications for this fight regarding blood testing. I have offered to give a blood sample the day of the announcement of the fight at the (press conference). I have offered to give a blood sample 30 days before the fight. I am willing to give blood immediately after the fight is over inside my dressing room . I am also willing to give urine tests at anytime, anywhere, every day leading up to the fight.
"The truth is taking blood out of my body does not seem natural to me and mentally I feel it will weaken me if blood is taken from me just days before the fight. That does not make sense to me why anyone would do that. These accusations of me using any performance enhancing supplements are totally unwarranted and unjustified. continue...
PACQUIAO FINALLY RESPONDS TO MAYWEATHER “I say to Floyd Mayweather Jr., don’t be a coward and face me in the ring, mano a mano, and shut your big, pretty mouth so we can show the world who is the true king of the ring,” Pacquiao said, adding that he contemplated a lawsuit against Mayweather Sr. before his Nov. 14 victory against Miguel Cotto. “I did not sue because I did not want to get distracted during that time because I was preparing for one of the toughest fights in my career. continue...
There was movement by the Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao camps Saturday in the battle over how to handle drug testing for their tentative March 13 super fight, but the sides remain at a stalemate in an increasingly nasty negotiation that threatens a fight many predict would be the highest-grossing bout in history.
With all of the other points agreed to for the blockbuster HBO PPV welterweight title bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the drug testing protocol is the final sticking point. continue...
